CLEAVAGE

There is one distinct cleavage in this group.  Reginald, Shannon, and Valerie did not interact at all with the others are off in a group by themselves.  The cleavage here does not appear to be sex cleavage as Reginald is grouped with two girls.  This suggests that this classroom may be older than elementary.

CLIQUIES

In the larger group resulting from the cleavage, it appears to be separated into two cliques of boys and girls.  The boys did not choose to interact with the girls at all, and only Erin interacted with the boys on the girls side.  Since there is a clear separation between boys and girls, this suggests that this class is an elementary class room, contradicting the early observations based on cleavage.

STARS

There are two stars in this classroom – Jay and Sara.  Each student is the power leader of their respective cliques, but do not interact with each other.  This may suggest that a power struggle of sorts is occurring in this classroom.

MUTUAL CHOICE

There is only one mutual choice in this classroom between Andy and Brian.  Mutual choices suggest loyalty between peers.

ISOLATES

There are a few isolates in this classroom.  Valerie, Andrea, Joseph, and James were not selected by any of the other students.  However, the length of time of the observations was unknown as was the level of opportunity for students to interact with each other.  Therefore, it may be premature to classify the above students as isolates.

REJECTEE

In this study, it is impossible to tell whether or not any rejectees are present.  There were no observations or questioning which sought to determine is any active rejection was occurring.
